Clinical Decision Support enhanced by ‘decidemedical’ platform
ClinFlows’ decidemedical platform was selected by a major player in the cardiovascular market to manage an online patient screening process for launching a new coronary Chronic Total Occlusions (CTO) treatment modality. Physicians are enabled to upload their angiography data plus clinical information from their patients, to have an experienced medical expert checking the patient’s eligibility for the new CTO treatment. Within hours a reply is send back to the physician, making the second opinion available and so allowing the patient to be treated possibly during the same hospital stay. “This enhanced online Clinical Decision Support is the new way to go in the future. I had not expected it to be so easy and safe, especially for the participating hospitals”, says a project manager from the medical device manufacturer.
CTOs are a challenge for interventional cardiologists. The new CTO treatment is designed to quickly deliver a guidewire via the true lumen or subintimal pathways to bridge the coronary CTOs.
